This whole unit we have been learning for the past couple weeks was about electricity. Recently we learned that our houses have mostly parallel set ups. This is because if we had series set ups, we wouldnt be able to run as much electronics off of one circut without crashing it. With parallel set ups, each outlet in the house will get a certain amount of voltage no matter what. This picture is of my computer charger. There are three three prongs. The long round prong is a ground prong. This is one of the things i learned that stuck in my head this week.

PSSHHH! I LIKE SEE
This week i brought to school my electric bill which was quite high. In class we were told to ask our parents if we could lower the electric bill we could keep the money that we saved. Before asking my parents i asked my uncle and this is the face he made. He didnt say a word but this face definately means HAHAHA I WANT TO SEE YOU TRY. So i didnt ask my parents i just took it upon myself to try and save electricity.

MISSING CLASS
This week i was not in class to learn the new lesson. So i will tell you what i was doing and why i wasnt in class. On Febuary 1st i signed my National Letter of Intent to the University of Colorado Boulder. There i will continue my football career for four more years. It was a cool experience that i dont think i will feel again. Pono can probably tell you the same thing. I dont like missing physics class but to experience that was worth it.
CAPACITANCE
Capacitance is short term energy storage. Like Punahou football players it is all bark with no bite. What i mean by this is it stores a lot of voltage but it doesnt have a lot of charge. An example of this is the Punahou football players. They talk a lot and like to run their mouth and store a lot of anger. But when it comes time to play they have no but or no charge. This is the best explination i could think of when thinking of capacitance.

SHOCKING!!!!
This week we learned about electric potential energy. I learned that an electrical socket has 120 volts. Though the voltage seems low, it will hurt. There was this ball thing which supposidly had 100,000 volts. When i touched it, it didnt really hurt. It was just a little shock. I didnt attempt to shock myself with the outlet. That would have hurt way to much. I learned that it isnt the voltage that will hurt you, it is the amount of the charge that will hurt you. This is the intense shock that we feel.

APPENDICIDES
This week I had my appendix removed so i was not able to come to class. On Sunday, i had severe stomach cramps and went to the ER. They found after some tests that my appendix was ready to burst and rushed me into emergency surgery. They removed my appendix and left me in a lot of pain. All i did the whole week off of school was lay in my bed and rest. :)
CHARGE LARGE
This is a picture of my aunties fridge. As you can see there are many magnets on here and they range in colors, sizes, and brands. From what i can tell, the magnets are attracted to the fridge. This is because they contain opposite charges and we learned that opposites attract. This is why the magnets can stay attached to the fridge.
