POTENTIAL ENERGY (GRAVITY)
This week we learned about he different types of energy. This picture is an example of Potential energy. Potential energy can be potential gravity or potential spring. This image shows potential gravity . While above the pool the gravity is pulling me toward the water. there is also potential spring form the diving board. The tight spring shot me high above the pool!

PONO "THE HAMMAH" CHOY
This week in physics we learned aboutLLinear Momentum on one axis. The si unit for momentum is kg x m/s. This is because MASS X VELOCITY = MOMENTUM. Momentum in is equal to momentum out. This is a picture of Pono "The Hammah" Choy laying the lick on number nine from punahou. (they are not even good enough to get a capital p) Pono is about the same mass as number 9 but, because he has more momentum, he runs right through him like a hot knife through butter. Pono has a much higher velocity which causes him to have a much higher momentum. Momentum helps a lot when playing defense!!

CAR CRASH!!
This week in physics we experimented using car crashes. It just so happend's that my uncle got into a car crash the other day. When he told me i thought of the lab immediately. This was different from the lab because when my uncle was hit he was stepping on his brake so his car didnt move in the oppisite direction. It just skidded forward unlike the car in the lab that bounced in the oppisite direction. It was like the cars that got stuck together with the velcrow. The brakes added friction and caused the car to not move as much. Finally this car got way more messed up then the cars in the lab.

I THINK I KNOW MOMENTUM
Our next subject in Physics is about momentum. Before i look it up on google i thought about my two dogs. The small dog is Cissy and the bigger dog is her puppy Champ. In my house there are wood floors and my dogs are house dogs. Cissy's mass is small compared to Champs mass. When the dogs run in the house Cissy can stop quickly, Champ on the other hand goes sliding across the floor every time. I think this is because his mass is greater which means he has a greater momentum. Momentum is the product of the mass and velocity of a specific object according to google.

TENSION
This weekend i watched the smurfs with my family. In this image the smurfs are playing tug of war. There is massive tension on the string because there are two forces pulling on it. The forces are pulling oppisit of each other to the tension is great. This picture is one example of tension and thats about it. BUT THE MOVIE WAS PRETTY GOOD I MUST SAY!

FORCE!
This week we learned about forces. Newton's 1st Law of Motion. This law states that "objects in motion will tend to stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside, unbalanced force". This picture is of me and my older brother. We are about to fight and my fist is the object in motion. When i hit his face ( which is the outside force) my hand will come to a stop. This shows newtons law because my fist was not able to stay in motion because of my brothers face being in the way. But i still love him.

I LOVE THIS LAW
Newton's first law " an object at rest will tend to stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force." This picture here is of me on my birthday and i did not want to do anything. This is an example of me staying at rest on the couch. This shows newtons law because i did not do any thing until my mom put outside force from her hand to my head in order to get me to get off the couch. :)

2D kineamatics
2 D kineamatics is when something moves on the x and y axis at the same time. In this picture i am moving along the x axis as the wave moves on the y axis. This is 2d kineamatics because they are moving on the two axis at the same time. This is a very good example to me of what we learned in class.

what i THINK vectors are!
Today i wasnt in class to learn about vectors today but i did some research and this is what i think vectors are. A vector is how far and the direction that something moves. A vector differs from distance in one way and that is that a vector shows us the direction that something is moving. My picture is of the car coming at me at 30 something mph up hill! This is what i think a vector is.

Baby Toss!
This week in science we did the ball toss lab. We looked at graphs to see the acceleration and velocity of the ball as we threw it up and as gravity pulled it back to earth. I was reminded of this while i was looking through pictures this weekend. When i go to the beach with my little cousins, i usually throw them up in the air. Just like with the ball, gravity pulled them back to earth slamming them back in to the water.

TRAFFIC CAN BE EDUCATIONAL
This weekend, there was traffic while i was trying to drive home to Ewa Beach. While i was driving, i remembered that we used the motion detector in class. I was in the car with my mom trying to explain to her how it worked. Her only answer to me was "pshh! im glad we didnt have that when i was in school." Anyway, i was wondering what the motion detector would read if it was connected to the car in front of me. While i was driving, i was trying to picture what it would look like and how fun it would be to try replicate the graphs we did in class with a car. Cuz as the car would get closer the graph would go upward and as the car took off, the graph would go down. Again we see physics is part of every day life. . . as long as you know what it is!

My Own Olympics
This weekend I had a big football game vs St. Louis. After the game, though I was very tired, I remembered the Olympics we did. What I remembered was that the faster the runners went, the less time it took to cover more distance. When watching film on Saturday after the game, I saw that at the beginning of the game, it took me very little time to cover a lot of distance. In the final quarter of the game, I noticed that it took me much longer to cover the same amount of distance. This was because of fatigue! To conclude, what we saw in the football game and in the olympics, is as the participants tested, the times became slower because of being tired.

Kinematics
Displacement, velocity, time, and acceleration is all associated with the study of kinematics. Today my dad and I worked on one of my cars. We had to change the starter and to do that we had to drive all the way to checkers to buy a new one. We drove for about 20 minutes which isnt that far. Maybe about 20 miles total travel. But, my displacement was a big fat 0 because i parked my other car in the exact same spot when i got home. Kinematics is important to learn and can show us many things. We use it in our every day lives and dont even know it.

Football'N'Physics
This post is an example of what I learned this week in Physics. This week I learned about the relationships between variables. We did this in our lab using a pendulum and we changed variables such as the weight and string length. For my example I chose an image of a football. The relationship I chose is the faster you run the harder you hit. As your speed increases, the impact of your hit increases. As your speed decreases, the impact of your hit decreases. So in order to get a big hit in football, you need to build your speed because the more speed you have before contact, the harder your hit will be. From this first lesson I learned that science is not only something learned in school, it is a subject that teaches us about sports as well, and in my case its football!

Hello! my name is Kory Rasmussen. I come from a beautiful place called Ewa Beach. I live with my mom, dad, and two brothers. I have three house pit bulls and they are a hand full. I have been attending Kamehameha Schools Kapalama since the seventh grade. In my busy life I like to play football, lift weights, go to the beach, and cruze. But with most of my time I just play football. So far in science I have taken whatever I had to in intermediate, and continued with biology, chemistry and now physics. I am in college algebra this semester and will be taking trig next semester. By completing this course I hope to obtain my diploma. Finally the picture I chose is of me in my football jersey because without football I dont know what I would be doing with my life.
